Ancelotti secures Brazil’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup in his official debut

In his first official challenge as head coach of the Brazilian National Team, Carlo Ancelotti has led the squad to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a 1–0 victory over Paraguay in São Paulo.

After a goalless draw in his debut against Ecuador, the Italian coach made his home debut in a stadium filled with enthusiasm and high expectations. In a demanding match, Brazil gradually asserted its dominance, eventually finding the decisive goal just before halftime: Vinícius Júnior, after a fine collective move, scored the goal that sealed direct qualification.

Ancelotti’s tactical plan was clear from the outset: high pressing, fluid ball circulation, and offensive width. The adjustments made during the match further strengthened Brazil’s control, and the team’s defensive solidity preserved the result on a key night.

Everything has gone well these past fifteen days. We worked hard, the atmosphere was excellent, and we achieved our main objective,” Ancelotti said after the match. He also praised the group’s commitment and the players’ positive attitude.

With this win, Brazil secures its place in the World Cup to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The team will now continue its preparation for the tournament, with upcoming matches scheduled for September.

The Italian coach, who took charge in June, begins his journey with a confident and promising step at the helm of the five-time world champions.
