Ancelotti debuts against FC Carl Zeiss Jena in the Cup title, a tournament he has won in three different countries
With the Supercup already in the glass cabinet and with their views on the Bundesliga, Bayern will have to pass the first round of the German Cup against FC Carl Zeiss Jena (20.45 CEST) in a match in which they are clear favourites but in which Carlo has advised everyone: “We need to be concentrated”. The coach doesn’t want any bitter surprises: “Of course we are favourites but this is not a winning guarantee. We must impose our game”.
Ancelotti took advantage of the last press conference to remember his one and only visit to Jena 36 years ago. A visit from which the coach doesn’t have good memores: “In 1980 I was at Jena with La Roma as a player in a European Cup match. We lost 4-0. We were lucky because we could have lost by 10”, said Carlo, who added that “I hope this time is different”.
The Cup in any case is a tournament that suits Carlo Ancelotti. The coach knows what it is to win this tournament with three different teams and different countries. AC Milan (2003), FC Chelsea (2010) and the last with Real Madrid on 2014.
