Carlo Ancelotti and Champions League are almost synonymous. There is no other manager that have won more European titles than the now Bayern´s coach. With three Champions in his list of winners, Ancelotti returns tonight to his favorite competition (20.45 CET) against Rostov in Munich: “It’s very special to me. I have won it three times and will strive to do a fourth”, admitted the Italian with a broad smile on his face.
Three semifinals after, Bayern has entrusted Carlo Ancelotti to reign again in Europe, a difficult task that the Bavarian coach faces with the utmost enthusiasm: “We have the potential. The team is good. I am very happy to have such a team, I think we will fight for the title”.
Before anyone gets carried away and think that the work is done, Ancelotti sends a warning: “However, in this competition we have to give the best of us. In March and April it gets serious. Now we have to focus on playing game by game and put us top of the group. That is important”. Step by step, is the idea.
Ancelotti, last but not least, has one more challenge to achive in this Champions. If they win the competition, Carlo would be the first coach to win the title with three different teams. He already has won it with AC Milan and Real Madrid, so now he is looking for the triple crown with Bayern. Quite a nice challenge that will start by beating Rostov, a team Carlo Ancelotti won nine years ago in a semifinal of the Intertoto Cup with Juventus. Tonight at the Allianz, the story is quite different.
