A great first half of Ancelotti’s men was not enough. Bayern dominated and managed to reach the rival´s goal with danger. Arturo Vidal took the lead after he headed home in the 26 minute from a corner-kick. It was not the only clear chance for Bayern. Just before the break, Vidal again had the oportunity to stretch the lead and balance the tie for Bayern with a penalty, but his shot went high. Everything changed in the second half. First with the visitors equaliser after a shot from Cristiano and then after Javi Martinez was sent off. Madrid took advantage of their numerical superiority on the pitch and another goal from Cristiano caused the first defeat of the season for Bayern at the Allianz.

At the end of the game, Carlo Ancelotti regretted not having taken enough advantage in the first half and score another goal. “The result is not good, we wanted more, we made a good first half and we could have score the get 2-0. The game turned very complicated after the red card, we could only defend with 10 players.”
Carlo Ancelotti did not want to give away the tie and still believes that his team has options. They will play for the victory: “We played only 90 minutes. There are still another 90 to play. We are still alive. “
